Business Immigrants

There are three categories of immigration under the Federal Business Class: Investors, Entrepreneurs and Self-Employed.

  • Federal Investor Class

If you have a net worth of CAD $800,000 or more and at least 2 years business experience, you may be able to qualify under this category.

You would need to make an investment of CAD $400,000 to the Canadian Government. This investment will be returned to you, without interest, in 5 years.

    OR

You can have the $400,000 financed by a Canadian Financial Institution for a fee of CAD $125,000.

  • Federal Entrepreneur Class

Do you plan to start your own business when you settle in Canada?

Do you have a minimum net worth of CAD $300,000?

    Do you have business experience?

Then the Federal Entrepreneur Category may be right for you.

Keep in mind, however, that the Federal Entrepreneur Category is the only category of Permanent Residence with Terms and Conditions attached.

  • Self-employed Class

At the moment, the self-employed class is restricted to individuals with:

    • relevant experience that will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada or
    • experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

  • Provincial Nominee Programs

If you don't meet the requirements for any of the Federal Business Class categories, you may still qualify as a business immigrant under one of the Provincial Nominee Programs.
