Record Saskatchewan Express Entry stream draw invites close to 1000 candidates

the largest ever EOI draw conducted by Saskatchewan

In the latest Saskatchewan Express Entry stream draw held on October 17, a total of 986 candidates with specific work experience were invited to apply for provincial nomination. This is the largest-ever Expression of Interest draw held by Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) so far.
SINP introduced the Expression of Interest system in July 2018, with an aim to manage Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand immigration pathways. The latest Saskatchewan Expression of Interest draw has set a record by issuing the highest number of invitations.

Saskatchewan Express Entry stream

The Saskatchewan Express Entry stream is linked to the federal Express Entry system that manages immigration through the three economic immigration programs of Canada–the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Class. The Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nomination from Saskatchewan would obtain 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System points that would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canda in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
To be eligible for provincial nomination from Saskatchewan, it is not necessary for an Express Entry candidate to have a job offer from the province. However, the candidate must have work experience in an eligible occupation, which must also be aligned with their field of study.
In the October 17 Saskatchewan Express Entry draw, invitations were issued to candidates with work experience in one of the following 12 occupations:

  • Retail and wholesale trade managers (NOC 0621)
  • Restaurant and food service managers (NOC 0631)
  • Construction managers (NOC 0711)
  • Managers in agriculture (NOC 0821)
  • Other financial officers (NOC 1114)
  • Accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 1311)
  • Information systems analysts and consultants (NOC 2171)
  • Social and community service workers (NOC 4212)
  • Early childhood educators and assistants (NOC 4214)
  • Technical sales specialists – wholesale trade (NOC 6221)
  • Heavy-duty equipment mechanics (NOC 7312)
  • Automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanics and mechanical repairers (NOC 7321)

The selected candidates also had a minimum score of 67 under the EOI points grid of the SINP. This score is awarded to the candidates on the basis of a number of factors such as age, language proficiency, education etc. According to SINP, EOI score and occupation are the two major factors that determine a candidate’s chances receiving invitation to apply from Saskatchewan. The eligible occupations list of Saskatchewan currently has more than a 200 occupations, which are eligible under Express Entry and Occupation in Demand categories.
