Eighteen Canadian Universities are featured in the list of the world’s best universities that produce the most employable graduates in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2018.The Rankings aims to highlight the universities that are doing the most to help their graduates find suitable employment. QS Rankings identified the best universities using a methodology which assesses employment rates, alumni outcomes, employer reputations etc.

Following are the top 10 universities that were chosen as the best Canadian Universities for Graduate Employability:

University of Toronto

Ranked 15th in the list for graduate employability, University of Toronto has the highest rank among Canadian universities in the Alumni Outcomes indicator. Many former students have made outstanding achievements in various fields including arts, science, business and politics. Among the University’s former students are four Canadian Prime Ministers.

University of Waterloo

When it comes to graduate employability, the University of Waterloo has 24th position in the world. It also has fourth position in the world in the ‘Partnership with Employers’ category. The University offers more than 120 co-op programs and the students can combine their studies with work experience.

University of British Columbia

The University of British Columbia has 51st position among the best universities in the world, according to QS World University Rankings 2018. In graduate employability, the University has 35th position and in Employer Reputation category, it has 37th position. The University excels in a number of subjects including geography, mineral and mining engineering and sports-related subjects.

McGill University

McGill University, based in Montreal, is one of the most prestigious universities in Canada. The University has the highest percentage of PhD students among Canadian research universities. The university has 50 research centres and institutes and more than 400 programs. McGrill University has 42nd rank in graduate employability. It is also counted among the global top 50 Employer Reputation and Alumni Outcomes.

University of Alberta

University of Alberta is known for its excellence in humanities, sciences, creative arts, business, engineering, and health sciences. University of Alberta is ranked 94th in graduate employability and has the highest score in Graduate Employment Rate. The University houses facilities such as Canada’s National Institute for Nanotechnology and the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology. The university offers 400 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in 18 faculties.

McMaster University

Located in Hamilton, Ontario, McMaster University has the highest score in Partnerships with Employers. It is one of Canada’s top three research-intensive universities, with more than 70 Centres and Institutes including three national Centres of Excellence. The University also has students and faculty from 98 countries and 70 international academic exchange agreements.

Queen’s University

Queen’s University in Kingston has some of the most prominent politicians, academics and business leaders as its former students. The University frequently conducts career fairs for students. Paid internships are also arranged for both domestic and international students.

The university ranks 4th among medical-doctoral universities in Canada. One of the oldest universities in Canada, Queen’s has 17 university- and faculty-based research centres. The University also excels in research areas including particle astrophysics, cancer research, ecological history, and clean energy technology.

Université de Montréal

Featured in the 121-130 range of this year’s Graduate Employability Rankings, this French-speaking university is one of the largest in Canada. The University was ranked among the top 100 institutions in the field of life sciences and medicine and 48th for pharmacy and pharmacology in the world in 2017.It has also been rated the highest possible score of 5+ in the QS Stars rating system.

University of Calgary

University of Calgary is featured in the 151 -160 range for graduate employability. The University has a graduate employment rate of 95%. It conducts several career fairs and arranges co-op programs and internships for the students. The University of Calgary has 14 faculties, 53 departments and more than 200 academic programs.

Western University

Western University, formerly known as the University of Western Ontario is one of Canada’s top research universities. It is also ranked in the 151-160 range. The University hosts a Student Success Centre that helps students improve employability.
