BC PNP draw: Skills Immigration, Express Entry BC candidates invited

Canada PR applications

In the latest draw conducted by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) on April 9, a total of 142 candidates were invited to apply for provincial nomination. The candidates invited belonged to either the Skills Immigration or Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) Stream of BC PNP.

BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)

All the candidates selected in the latest draw had registered their profiles with the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which is the point-based application management system of BC PNP. It helps the province to prioritize candidates who have the required skills to support the province’s economic growth. The system evaluates candidates on the basis of eligibility factors such as education, work experience and language proficiency. A score is awarded to each of the candidates based on these factors and it is this score that determines their chances of obtaining an invitation to apply for provincial nomination from British Columbia.

Express Entry BC

The Express Entry BC stream is meant for foreign workers who have an active Express Entry profile. The Express Entry candidates who obtain a nomination from British Columbia will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

BC PNP Skills Immigration

The applications of Skills Immigration candidates are processed outside the Express Entry system. The Skills Immigration stream comprises a number of categories and each of these categories has a unique set of eligibility requirements. The categories under the Skills Immigration stream are:

  • Skilled Worker Category
  • Health Care Professional Category
  • International Graduate Category
  • International Post-Graduate Category
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Category

Most of the categories under both the Express Entry and the Skills Immigration streams require the candidates to have an indeterminate, full-time job offer from a Canadian employer.

EEBC – Skilled Worker 105
EEBC – International Graduate 105
