British Columbia sends 225 ITAs in the latest draw

Canada PR applications

In the latest draw held on April 18, the Canadian province of British Columbia sent 225 invitations to apply (ITA) for provincial nomination to selected candidates. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has informed that the invitations were sent to candidates with a job offer in one of the 32 key technology occupations of the province’s Tech Pilot program. The Tech Pilot program of British Columbia, launched in 2017, aims to attract skilled immigrants to fill the scarcity of labor in its thriving technology sector. The candidates selected were chosen from Skills Immigration and Express Entry pathways. The applications for permanent residence of those candidates who are invited through the Skills immigration categories will be processed outside the Express Entry system after they receive a nomination from British Columbia.
In the latest draw, minimum scores required in each category were:

Category Minimum Score
Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker 89
Express Entry British Columbia  – International Graduate 89
Skills Immigration  – Skilled Worker 84
Skills Immigration  – International Graduate 84
Skills Immigration  – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 50

 British Columbia PNP

One can apply for permanent residence in Canada through the provincial nominee program of British Columbia by creating an online profile for the BC PNP and filling up the registration form. The candidates are then assessed by the BC PNP authorities and scores are awarded to them based on various factors such as education and work experience. Those with good scores enter into the selection pool of BC PNP. The candidates who were sent Invitations to Apply will receive 600 additional scores while applying for permanent residence if their applications are accepted. They have a better chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply during the Express Entry Draw.
Most of the immigration categories under BC PNP demand a full-time job offer from a British Columbia employer to be eligible to apply.
