WHATSAPPAn amount of $440 million will be committed to ensure the success of the multi-year immigration levels plan of the federal government of Canada, informed Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen the other day. He announced this before the Canadian Parliament’s Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration. The three-year immigration levels plan covering 2018 to 2020 aims gradual increase in immigration levels during this period. The admission target, according to the multi-year immigration levels plan, is 310000 in 2018 to 340000 in 2020.
The immigration minister also informed the targets of the multi-year immigration levels plan are the highest level of admissions in more than 100 years and the highest percentage of immigration in more than 40 years.
Minister Ahmed Hussen further said 60% of the overall immigration during the plan period is estimated through Canada’s economic immigration programs. It means increased importance for Express Entry System and Provincial Nominee Programs(PNPs). Canada is planning to accept 242100 new admissions from 2018 to 2020 through the three economic immigration programs under Express Entry, namely- the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class. The admissions through PNPs will also increase by a total of 23 percent during the three-year plan period.
The increased admission targets are expected to cost $440 million during the three-year plan period. The additional funding is for addressing the extra burden that will be put on the global processing network and immigration programs of the IRCC. It will also help to process and screen more applications in a timely manner.
