29 invited through Ontario Express Entry French-speaking skilled workers stream

The Government of Ontario, in a draw held on August 30, invited 29 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through its French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. This year, 1,006 Express Entry candidates have so far been invited through the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream of Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) in 29 draws. In the latest draw held on August 30, candidates invited were those who submitted their Express Entry profiles between January 1, 2018, and August 30, 2018.

Ontario Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream:

French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream for Express Entry candidates was launched by the OINP in 2015. The stream targets francophone candidates who qualify for either the Federal Skilled Worker Class or the Canadian Experience Class.

The eligibility criteria for candidates include:

-Sufficient level of language ability in all four components (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) in both French and English:
>Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in French and CLB 6 in English
>Results of the following language tests are accepted as proof:

  • IELTS (General Training Test only) for English;
  • CELPIP (General test only) for English; or
  • TEF for French

-Minimum level of work experience (at least one year of continuous and full-time employment experience, or part-time equivalent) in a National Occupation Classification (NOC) level 0, A, or B occupation in the five years prior to the date of receiving Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP for candidates under Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
-At least one year of cumulative and full-time employment experience, or part-time equivalent, in an NOC 0, A, or B occupation in Canada in the three years prior to the date of receiving Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates
-A Canadian Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree OR an equivalent foreign degree. Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is must for foreign degrees
– Intend to reside in Ontario, which should be proved with a statement of intent and indication of ties to Ontario
-Sufficient settlement funds that have to be proved with bank statements
Express Entry candidates nominated by Ontario will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points that will improve their chances for being invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draws.
