A website to assist new immigrants to Quebec in job search

Canada PR applications

A new website has been launched in Quebec to help newcomers find employment in regions outside Montreal. The French-language website, emploisenregions.ca, assists new permanent residents and temporary foreign workers to connect with employers and integration service providers in these regions.
A campaign is also going on to attract newcomers to regions outside Montreal. Majority of newcomers to Quebec prefer to settle in Montreal, the largest city in Quebec. At the same time, regions outside Montreal face serious labor shortage, a situation which was recently termed “dangerous” by Quebec City Mayor Régis Labeaume. He had also expressed fear that the labor shortage may jeopardize the economic future of the province.

Besides giving information regarding the jobs available, the new website also offers free service of expert employment advisors and a number of other support services such as help for developing a career plan, preparing a CV and finding an apartment.
Quebec leads in job vacancies increase
Quebec registered the highest year-over-year increase in job vacancies among Canadian provinces in the second quarter of 2018. Two Quebec economic regions, Capitale-Nationale and Estrie, were among the top three in Canada to witness the highest year-over-year increase in job vacancies during this period. At the same time Côte-Nord and Nord-du-Québec, Chaudière–Appalaches and Centre-du-Québec economic regions of Quebec featured among the top five economic regions having the highest proportion of full-time job vacancies.
It is estimated that Quebec will face a labor shortage of 292,000 workers by 2025. This is expected to open up vast opportunities for skilled immigrants.
Quebec has adopted several steps to address the imbalance in the distribution of labor among different regions of the province.  The introduction of Expression of Interest system for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program is an example. It helps immigration authorities to select candidates with skills and experience needed by the labor markets of different regions in Quebec.
