WHATSAPPIn the Manitoba Expression of Interest (EoI) draw held on July 6, the minimum cut off score came 26 points down to 519, compared to the previous draw held on March 13, when the cut-off score was 545. In the July 6 draw, Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) for a provincial nomination from Manitoba was issued to a total of 202 Express Entry candidates. This is the sixth Express Entry-linked draw, since Manitoba’s Workers Overseas-Express Entry sub-stream came into existence in January 2018.
The candidates with a valid Express Entry ID, job seeker validation code and six months of recent experience in one of the occupations on Manitoba’s in-demand list were chosen in the draw. Another selection criterion was the confirmed support of a close friend or relative who has resided in Manitoba for at least one year.
In order to be considered under the Express Entry sub-stream of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), a candidate must first register an Expression of Interest or EOI. Those who are selected for provincial nomination will be awarded 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points.
The Manitoba Expression of Interest system is different from the Express Entry system of the federal government. Under the Manitoba Expression of Interest system, candidates are assigned a score out of 1000, whereas in the Express Entry system, candidates are awarded Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores out of 1200.
On July 6, the MPNP issued another 217 LAAs to Skilled Workers Overseas candidates outside the Express Entry system. The cut-off score was 572. Under one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of the MPNP, 32 LAAs were issued to Skilled Workers Overseas candidates with a score of at least 639. Yet another 104 LAAs were issued to Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidates with a minimum score of 564.
