Manitoba invites 456 candidates in second Expression of Interest draw of January

In the second Expression of Interest draw conducted by Manitoba this year, the province invited candidates belonging to Skilled Worker Overseas, Skilled Worker in Manitoba and International Education immigration streams to apply for provincial nomination. A total of 456 candidates were invited in the draw that was held on January 31.
Manitoba Expression of Interest system
The candidates of Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas and International Education streams of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) are selected for provincial nomination through an Expression of Interest system. Under the system, the candidates must first register their profiles with the MPNP. Based on the information provided in the profile regarding various eligibility factors such as education, work experience, language proficiency etc., each profile is awarded a score. The highest scoring candidates are issued Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) for provincial nomination in the subsequent draws.
Skilled Worker Overseas stream
An unspecified number of Express Entry candidates are among those invited to apply under the Express Entry pathway of Skilled Worker Overseas stream. A total of 299 Skilled Worker Overseas candidates have received Letters of Advice to Apply in January 31 draw. The lowest score required for these candidates was 572.
The Express Entry candidates who obtain provincial nomination from Manitoba will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that will guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draws.
Other candidates belonging to the Skilled Worker Overseas stream selected in the January 31 draw had to meet the following criteria:

  • A connection to Manitoba in the form of a close relative residing in the province or past education or work experience
  • Minimum six months of recent work experience in one of the occupations in the In-demand list of Manitoba
  • Minimum language proficiency of CLB/NCLC 5 unless work experience is primarily in a regulated occupation (minimum CLB/NCLC 7) or a compulsory trade (CLB/NCLC 6).

Yet another 16 invitations were issued under Skilled Worker Overseas stream through the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of MPNP. The candidates were required to have a minimum score of 705 in order to be selected.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream
Out of the total 456 invitations issued in the January 31 draw, 124 were issued to candidates belonging to Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream. The minimum required score was 575. Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream, temporary foreign workers and international student graduates currently working in Manitoba and have a job offer from a Manitoba employer can apply for provincial nomination.
International Education Stream
Candidates of International Education Stream received 17 invitations in the January 31 draw. International students graduated from the post-secondary institutions of Manitoba and having skills required by employers in Manitoba can apply for provincial nomination under the stream. The International Education stream of Manitoba comprises three pathways–Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and the Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
