Nova Scotia Express Entry category reopens to accept 225 applications

Nova Scotia reopened its Express Entry-aligned provincial nominee program category on November 17 to accept up to 225 applications. The category was opened at 9 am Atlantic Standard Time.
The Nova Scotia Express Entry category is extremely popular among immigration aspirants mainly because the category does not require a Canadian job offer or Canadian work experience. The category neither has minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) requirement. Moreover, the Express Entry candidates who obtain provincial nomination through Express Entry category receive 600 additional CRS points.

Nova Scotia Express Entry category

NS Express Entry category, also called the Category B of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Stream is a first-come, first-served category. In order to be eligible to apply under this category, a candidate must have:

  • Registered his/her profile in the federal Express Entry system
  • Score a minimum of 67 points in the points grid of the stream
  • Minimum one year of skilled work experience in one of the target occupations of Nova Scotia
  • Have Canadian high school-level education
  • Language proficiency in English or French at Canadian Language Benchmark 7
  • Financial capacity to settle in Nova Scotia


The category, when opens, usually reaches its intake limit in no time. Last time, when the category was opened in the morning of April 28, 2018, it reached the intake limit by afternoon itself. The notice for opening the stream is usually given only 24 hours before. For the November 17 opening, the notice was issued in the morning of November 16. It means the interested candidates must remain prepared with all the required documents so that they can submit their applications as soon as possible when the category reopens.
