Saskatchewan invites Express Entry, Occupation In-Demand candidates

Canada PR applications

In the latest draw held on March 6, Saskatchewan invited 138 candidates belonging to Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-categories of Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) to apply for provincial nomination. Of the total invitations issued, 70 invitations were issued to candidates of Express Entry sub-category, while 68 were issued through the Occupation In-Demand sub-category.

Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category

The Express Entry sub-category of Saskatchewan allows the province to nominate skilled worker candidates from federal Express Entry pool for permanent residence in Canada. The Express Entry candidates who are nominated by Saskatchewan receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

Occupation In-Demand sub-category

The Occupation In-Demand sub-category of SINP is not linked to the federal Express Entry system. The first step towards applying for a provincial nomination through the Occupation In-Demand sub-category is submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the SINP. Each profile is awarded a score based on a number of eligibility factors such as education qualification, skilled work experience, language proficiency and connections to the province. These profiles are then moved to the pool for respective sub-categories. A set number of the highest-ranking candidates are then invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted regularly.
The lowest ranking candidate invited through the Express Entry sub-category on March 6 had a score of 67 while the score of the lowest-ranking candidate under the In-Demand Occupation sub-category was 81.
In the previous draw held on February 27, Saskatchewan had invited 83 Express Entry candidates to apply for provincial nomination. With the latest draw, the total number of invitations issued by SINP through the Express Entry sub-category in 2019 has reached 515, while the number of invitations issued through Occupation In-Demand sub-category so far is 302.
.The candidates of both the Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-categories are required to have work experience in one of the In-Demand Occupations of Saskatchewan.
