Nova Scotia Express Entry Labour Market Priorities Stream targets Express Entry candidates who can meet the specific labour market needs of the province. This is a flexible stream and the occupations specified under this stream and the criteria may vary in each draw.  To be eligible, the candidate must have an Express Entry profile and be eligible for one of the three federal economic immigration programs managed under the Express Entry: Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Class(FSTC) and Canadian Experience Class(CEC).

Eligibility requirements

  • Receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration NSOI) in their Express Entry profile.
  • Meet the work experience requirements for their Express Entry class. They must also prove that their work experience matches the description listed in the federal government’s National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • Demonstrate sufficient settlement funds
  • Have legal status in the country from where they are applying for the stream

Draw-specific eligibility requirements

The criteria for candidates to be selected under each draw may be different and these specific criteria will be notified by the NSOI in the draw announcement.  The criteria changes according to the labour market needs of Nova Scotia.

How to apply

To apply for provincial nomination through the Nova Scotia Express Entry Labour Market Priorities Stream, an Express Entry candidate must first receive a Letter of Interest through their federal Express Entry profile. Those who receive the Letter of Interest from Nova Scotia can submit the complete application along with the supporting documents within 30 days. The supporting documents include letters of reference to prove work experience, bank statement as a proof of settlement funds as well as a copy of a valid passport or temporary resident visa, if the applicant is not a citizen of the country where they reside at the time of application.

If the application of the candidate is refused for any reason, they won’t be able to appeal as the decision of the NSOI is final.

The candidates who receive provincial nomination will obtain 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points , that would ensure an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the upcoming Express Entry draw.
