Universities in Singapore
Singapore is one of the fastest growing financial centers in Asia and leading educational hub. The Higher Education Division (HED) supervises the provision of tertiary and technical education in Singapore. The duty of HED is to oversee and support the development and quality of post-secondary education as well as offer quality services to private education providers. The universities in Singapore have a practical and experiment-based approach to teaching. Universities in Singapore have always been ranked among top 50 Universities in QS world ranking systems.
There are four government-funded universities in Singapore:
- National University of Singapore
- Nanyang Technological University
- Singapore Management University
- Singapore University of Technology and Design and
National University of Singapore:
The National University of Singapore ranks among the top 20 universities in the world according to QS world ranking 2016-17. The university has 13 undergraduate and 4 graduate schools offering over 300 degrees and diplomas. According to QS, NUS ranks 4th for engineering and technology and 7th for social sciences and management. Applications for UG programs are invited from mid of October for September intake and for PG programs in Jan intake.
Nanyang Technological University:
NTU features among the top 15 universities in the world. NTU has 7 colleges, 4 autonomous institutes, and 16 centers and is known for its research intensive programmes. The university’s main campus covers 200 hectares (490 acres) of land, making it the largest university campus in Singapore. NTU also offers a variety of undergraduate scholarships to international students pursuing their full-time undergraduate studies in the university. Scholarships are generally awarded to students based on academic merit and good co-curricular records.
Singapore Management University:
Ranked among the top universities in Singapore, the Singapore Management University is known for the social and management programmes offered both at the undergraduate and graduate level. SMU comprises 6 Schools offering undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programmes in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Financial Services, Accountancy, Economics, Information Systems, Management, Law, and the Social Sciences and the University has over 30 research institutes and centers of excellence.
Singapore Institute of Technology:
SIT is Singapore’s fifth autonomous university. The university offers practice-oriented and industry-focused degrees in Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Food Technology, Infocom Technology, Health and Social Sciences, Design and Specialized Businesses. SIT has collaboration with ten of its overseas university partners from the Germany, United States and the UK and the University has 6 campuses across Singapore.

JCU Singapore offers UG and PG degrees in business, education, counseling, psychology, environmental science, information technology, tourism & hospitality. JCU Singapore has designed courses fully in Australian curriculum and all degree certification is awarded from James Cook University Australia.
Lasalle College of the Arts:
Lasalle is an arts educational institution in Singapore in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London. LASALLE provides both Polytechnic-level Diploma and Degree in design, fine arts, film, media arts, fashion, dance, music, theater, art therapy, Asian art histories, and arts management.
