Alberta Express Entry draw invites 148 candidates to apply for provincial nomination

Alberta Express Entry draw invites 148 candidates

In the latest Alberta Express Entry draw held on November 6, a total of 148 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the candidates invited in the latest draw was 400. They were also required to meet certain other eligibility criteria.
The selected candidates who successfully apply for and obtain a provincial nomination from Alberta will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total CRS score that would ensure an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

The first step for a candidate to be considered for provincial nomination from Alberta through the Express Entry stream is to create an Express Entry profile. The Express Entry stream allows the province of Alberta to search the federal Express Entry pool for candidates with the skills and qualifications that make them capable of contributing towards the growth of the province’s economy. Alberta Express Entry draws also give priority to those candidates who already have strong ties to the province. Though it is not necessary for a candidate to have a job offer to be selected, it improves their chances of being invited in the Alberta Express Entry draw. Candidates with the following advantages are more likely to receive invitations from AINP:

  • Job offer and/or work experience in Alberta
  • Educational experience in Alberta
  • Close relatives such as parents, children or siblings living in the province

There are also certain factors that bring down a candidate’s chances for being selected that include:

  • Express Entry profile about to expire within three months
  • Working in an occupation included in either the Ineligible Occupations List of the Alberta Opportunity Stream or the list of high-wage and low-wage occupations in the province of Alberta.
  • If the candidate’s occupation already has a high volume of submissions across all AINP streams, it also reduces their chances of being invited.
