The fourth Express Entry Draw in 2018 and 84th overall took place on February 21. IRCC sent out Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian Residence to a total of 3000 applicants with a score of 442 or more in CRS.
This is the second consecutive draw following the February 7 draw where 3000 invitations were issued. In both these draws, the number of ITAs issued has witnessed an increase of 250 points compared to five previous draws.
This is also the eighth draw where IRCC used tie-break procedure. Those profiles which were in the Express Entry pool longer were prioritized. To be precise, the applicants with 442 CRS points who created their profiles before February 11, 2018, at 17:03:32 UTC were invited.
Since its launch in January 2015, Canada has welcomed over 43,000 economic immigrants through Canada Express Entry system.
Canada Express Entry is a fast-track system for immigration for highly skilled workers and students. The skills and abilities of a candidate are assessed based on a point-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) where the Canadian government assesses the applicants and awards scores. Canadian employers and provincial governments across Canada have access to the profiles. The best candidates are invited by the Federal government to apply for Canadian permanent residence. The system targets and gives permanent residency status to applicants who can contribute to the economic growth of Canada.
