H-1B Visa Applicants now turn towards Canada PR visa

As the rejections of H-1B visa for the United States have been increasing as never before, highly skilled foreign workers are now shifting their interest toward Canada PR visa. These foreign workers now know that Canada Permanent Residence visa would give them better stability and more opportunities.

American media has recently published a number of stories that describe how the highly skilled foreign workers living in the US have already left the country after obtaining Canada PR visa. The H1-B visa applicants are impressed by the highly advanced immigration system of Canada, when compared to their experiences with the US immigration system. Though the number of H-1B visa holders keeps rising, only a few of them get approved. The approval rate for H-1B applications has come down by more than 10 percent between 2015 and 2018. So these applicants are moving to Canada by applying through Express Entry Programs and Provincial Nominee Programs.

Express Entry for Canada PR

Express Entry system, introduced in 2015, aims to select skilled and qualified foreign workers who can contribute towards the growth of Canada economy for permanent residence in Canada. Express Entry manages three economic immigration programs–The Federal Skilled Worker Program, The Federal Skilled Trade Program, and The Canadian Experience Class. The candidates with the highest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the invitation rounds that are conducted regularly.

The applicants residing in the United States were ranked third among the candidates who received invitations through Express Entry in 2017. They comprise around 7 percent of the total invitations issued that year. The same year, the most number of Express Entry invitations were issued to Indian citizens. A total of 32,310 invitations were issued to Indian citizens, which comes to around 42 percent of the total invitations issued.

Provincial Nominee Programs

Provincial Nominee Programs allow migrants to come and settle in a Canadian particular province of their choice. Most of the immigration streams of PNPs employ point-based systems select candidates and award them points on the basis of a number of factors such as age, educational qualification and language proficiency. Some streams are aligned to Express Entry and the Express Entry candidates nominated by the provinces receive 600 additional CRS points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the next Express Entry draw.
